I treat anxiety by recognizing and addressing the patterns of alarm that appear in our bodies when we have anxious thoughts.

The brain and body are deeply connected in complex ways. When your mind feels stressed or anxious, it sends signals to your nervous system which then activates the fight-or-flight response.

The body’s response of tension in your neck, pain in your gut or difficulties breathing deeply is a learned response from your past.

This response may have served you at some point in your life but now it is only fueling the anxious thoughts in your mind.

Slow, gentle micromovements like can actually regulate our nervous system by bringing ourselves into the present moment. When we are in the present moment we can not simultaneously be in the future with our anxious thoughts! When we release the pattern of holding or tightness in our bodies the anxious thoughts in our brain have no place to exist.
